Libre Rocha
Deputy Director
Libre Rocha (Lipan Apache / Mexica) is a Two-Spirit Navy Veteran from Austin, Texas, who served aboard the USS Carr during deployment to West Africa. He brings a strong background in Indigenous land-based healing, conservation, and community organizing. A member of the Native American Church, Libre is committed to preserving the sacred medicine and peyote lifeways for future generations.
Libre studied Apache language at Tohono O’odham College and is passionate about language preservation and cultural revitalization. He previously served as Volunteer Manager for the Texas Tribal Buffalo Project, a Lipan Apache matriarchal-led “Iyanne” buffalo conservation herd working to restore the buffalo to the South Texas prairie.
He is the founder of Nopal & Mesquite Sacred Pathways, an Indigenous-led nonprofit dedicated to restoring land stewardship and generational healing through ceremony, art, and animal therapy. Libre draws on a wide range of experience and traditional knowledge—from his work as a tattoo artist and Aveda stylist in Brooklyn, to adobe construction, urban farming, and designing off-grid tiny homes in Atlanta, Georgia.
